I have a couple of batches of gradient grounds in pale violet, yellow and pink. They suggest light colours visible through translucent skin. Also, sky. I want them to touch various emotions. Not forcing anything.
One batch is much lighter and softer. The other a little more dramatic (this is likely to fight more with the lines drawn on top).
I'm avoiding the watercolour cauliflower effect in these and aiming more for soft gradients. Which seems to be achieved by dropping diluted inks onto plenty of water. Takes ages to dry and I have to overcome an impatient impulse to touch the drying papers.
