There's been a lull since June 2024 when I transported my sketch piles to a cafe in Salisbury for a 5 day 'Open Studios' stint.
As I work two paid jobs, I can only allow around 40 hours per month for the currently unpaid (and bank account draining) art related work. So getting a 'work in progress' show together felt intense. On top of this, there was a lot going on in my personal life, with one major event being the death of my Grandmother in April 2024.
But a lull is OK. Think lullaby calm. A moment to collect yourself and allow a new gathering of momentum.
I began the year with planning and a shifting of routines. How could I jiggle the 24 knobbly, hour-shaped pieces into a more productive picture?
For a start I cancelled TV-on-demand. For the last few years, cliff-hanger, auto-play streaming TV has binged on my brain. It's time to salve the chomp marks on the frontal cortex.
And back to the drawing board. I still have it. I'm always afraid that I've lost it and sometimes I can't draw. Then somehow the focus shifts, and its back. I still have it and I love it!
